SWE Fall Alumni Brunch

Saturday, December 3, 10:30am-12:30pm in Illini Union Room 314A

Join the SWE Professional Liaison Committee as they host the Second Annual Fall Alumni Brunch! This event is a great opportunity to network with alumni, professionals, grad students, and other SWEsters in a casual setting. There will be a $5 deposit which will be returned on the day of the brunch.  Please RSVP here and come to the SWE Office to turn in your deposit.  Dress is business casual.  Questions? Come join other SWE members and meet Alumni for our Alumni Brunch. Come talk to Alumni in a very easy and carefree environment. Don't forget this is a great way to network to Alumni within your work field and don't forget there will be FREE FOOD!

"WHY GRAD SCHOOL" LUNCHEON ( 1 point)

Thinking about your options after graduation? What about grad school? A panel of graduate students will discuss topics like the benefits of grad school, life as a grad student, application process, funding, research, etc. Free lunch will be provided! Please RSVP here by Monday, 4/12.

Come out and help plan the Alumni Banquet this April! We will be discussing ideas on what to ask alumni on the panel discussion which will be followed by a yummy buffet. Additionally we will be discussing ideas on how to make this event fun and interactive for all members. Snacks will be provided for all attending members.

EWB UIUC will be holding the Great Lakes Workshop Conference here at the University of Illinois next Fall 2011. This event will be roughly in October or November depending on what date EWB USA chooses. In order to organize this conference, EWB will need a lot of committed and ambitious people like yourself! Following are some of the positions that I'm looking for people to take leadership roles in for organizing this conference:
1.     Webmaster:   Design Website; Update Website; Publicity
2.     Corporate Director:    Prepare Sponsorship Letter; Find corporate sponsors; work with EWB Corporate Chair; Advertise within CU community; Facebook page; Invite local professional chapters e.g. ASCE, USGBC Students
3.     Director of Logistic:     Accommodation; Parking; Transportation; Directions
4.     Marketing - Internal:    Advertise within College of Engineering
5.     Events Director:    Organize Entertainment Events
6.     Career Fair Director:    Run the Career Fair
7.     Volunteer Coordinator Director

SWE Advising Day

For all women in engineering, SWE is organizing a SWE Advising Day today (10/26) at 6pm in Loomis 144 & 158. If you could please email all the women in engineering about this event, it would help them with registration! The details of the event are as follows:

SWE (Society of Women Engineers) Advising Day” on 10/26 from 6 to 7 pm in Loomis 144 and 158. The purpose of this event is to

• Provide students an opportunity to ask common questions regarding the upcoming registration
• Help fellow students decide which classes to take for Spring 2011
• Provide invaluable insight to fellow students about the ins and outs of classes upper classmen have taken
• Recommend which Professors to take classes from to fellow students

Also, free food will also be provided at the event!
